Minn Kota’s new Riptide with Compact Latch & Door mount has a lightweight rugged design featuring a smaller footprint that makes it ideal for trolling saltwater flats.

The new Compact Latch & Door mount (available on select Riptide bow-mount models) is constructed of tempered marine-grade extruded aluminum, so it is light, highly durable and won’t rust or corrode. The smaller footprint maximizes deck space, minimizes snagged lines, and allows anglers to move freely around the boat.

“A saltwater angler fishing flats with a skiff doesn’t have to use a pole to get back into his spots,” Minn Kota Field Promotions Manager Sam Heaton said. “The lighter bracket on this Riptide motor means he doesn’t have to worry about extra weight on the bow of the boat when he is in really shallow water. He can use his trolling motor and concentrate on fishing instead of poling. The smaller footprint on the compact mount gives that angler plenty of space on the front deck to cast and work fish.”

The Compact Latch & Door mount design allows for easy removal and storage of the motor. The positive rear stow latch secures the motor to prevent excessive bouncing when making runs across a body of water. And, the pull grip of the motor stows on the shaft yoke preventing damage to the boat deck.

“The Latch & Door design is great because you can take off the motor with an easy turn of the knob and put it in a secure place,” Heaton said. “You can go a step farther by purchasing the optional RTA-19 quick release bracket and then you can remove both the bracket and the motor. That’s a good option for anglers who want to remove their trolling motor from time to time to get up on the bow to fly fish.”

Available in 55 (12-volt system) and 70 (24-volt system) pounds of thrust, with Maximizer technology that provides up to 5 times longer run time on a single charge at infinitely variable speeds, the Riptide with Compact Latch & Door mount models have plenty of power to get anglers in and out of tight spots. Both models come with a 52-inch shaft and Minn Kota’s popular Tilt Twist Tiller hand control steering.

As with all Riptide motors, the new models with the Compact Latch & Door mount have the indestructible composite shaft that is stronger than stainless steel, does not contribute to corrosion and is guaranteed for life. Riptides also have fully encapsulated electronics for maximum protection from saltwater, a sacrificial zinc anode that protects the motor from galvanic corrosion and come with a three-year warranty.
